A charity that provides affordable groceries to Trafford residents has reopened its other services after the lockdown.

The Bread and Butter Thing resumed debt and housing assistance, mental health assistance, and other activities after the coronavirus restrictions ended last year.

A £ 2,500 grant from a charitable foundation run by US business and health company Maximus has enabled the charity to resume helping those struggling in Greater Manchester.

The charity, based in Trafford Park, provides affordable groceries, support and advice to low-income people across the city area.

Mark Game, CEO of The Bread and Butter Thing, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Maximus Foundation UK for their generous donation.

“This funding will allow us to revitalize our community support services that have been suspended during the pandemic, including debt counseling, housing counseling and other assistance to support our low-income members and their families.”

Di Briggs, Chairman of the Maximus Foundation UK, said: “The prospects for smaller charities across the UK remain very challenging to support the communities they serve.”

The Bread and Butter cause has continued to safely provide affordable food to residents throughout the pandemic, plus grants and funding even to those who may need it.

The charity works to reduce food waste and make life more affordable for those struggling in Greater Manchester while promoting healthy eating.

It is run by a team of staff and volunteers who work with partners across the city area.
