Plans for a 147-room hotel in Stretford were eventually approved after they had to be redrawn.
Original plans for a 197-room, nine-story hotel on land on Barton Road adjacent to the Circle Court council housing tower were rejected by Trafford Council because of the height and bulk of the building.

The then owners of the Trafford Center also raised concerns about the standard of the hotel being proposed for the site. They felt that the hotel wasn’t going to be high enough for the location.
Circle Court residents and councilors representing them had also raised concerns about the impact of the hotel and its guests on nearby streets and the availability of parking.
Now the developers at Create Developments Ltd have returned to the drawing board and reduced the height of the building and the number of rooms available on site for the hotel, which is a stone’s throw from the Trafford Center.
Coun Aidan Williams, chairman of the meeting, said, “I am very pleased that we have received this request. I think it’s a dramatic improvement over what was suggested.
What the proposed Barton Road Hotel in Stretford might look like.
“I think the effort that the applicant has decided to improve the system and it is clear that a lot more effort has been made to show that this will be a benefit to the site.”
The developers have consulted closely with local residents following the city council’s previous rejection of the plans, taking into account councilors’ concerns about the number of trees that would need to be felled on the site to make way for the building.

Now six of the eleven trees remain on the site, including two old willow and maple trees.
After the amendments to the proposal were accepted, the Trafford Council Planning Committee unanimously approved the proposals.
