A chicken takeout at Old Trafford has improved following its second consecutive one-star rating for food hygiene.

A Trafford Council inspector visited Dixy Chicken on Moss Lane West in June.

They rechecked the takeout after it received a one-star rating in March.

However, the takeaway failed to improve its rating after the inspector found evidence of mice as well as other hygiene issues.

The report said, “A dead mouse was found behind a tray under the sink in the washroom.

“If you look at the state of the mouse, it was clear that it had been there for some time.”

The inspector also found mouse droppings in several locations around the takeaway, including the washroom and storage area.

This despite the request to carry out daily pest controls after the inspection in March.

Other hygiene issues were the storage of raw food and the general cleanliness of the takeaway.

The diner has been instructed to call in pest control, seal potential pest entry points, and conduct daily pest controls from now on.

It was also ordered that raw food be stored separately from cooked food and that certain areas be thoroughly cleaned.

These improvements should be made immediately.

Other improvements, including the introduction of a new food safety management system and staff training in the system, have been granted one month from the date of the inspection.

Dixy Chicken has the opportunity to appeal against the rating.
