The UK’s first official Nerf Action Experience attraction is one step closer to opening in Manchester.

Plans have been submitted to turn several units at the Trafford Center into a Nerf battlefield and adventure attraction.

It is a collaboration between games brand Hasbro and Rocafella Leisure Group and is expected to cost around £ 4.5m.

The news comes after plans to modify 25,000 square foot units in Barton Square – originally intended as restaurants – were submitted to Trafford Council.

The application shows that three units on the first floor are combined to create the space for the adventure attraction.

A 4,000 m² mezzanine level with space for a café and a viewing platform is also planned.

The application states that Nerf is a “family adventure recreational experience with laser cannons and virtual interactions, and is a market-leading attraction with 20 attractions across Europe”.

“Nerf’s occupancy in Barton Square will be their first destination in the UK,” he adds.

Developers added that the Nerf cast in Barton Square “will encourage time in the mall, drive traffic and encourage linked travel,” which they believe will “make a positive contribution to mall activity” and “create jobs” and social benefits that add to the vitality and viability of the entire mall. “

According to the boss, the new Nerf Action Xperience will create over 50 jobs.

The news was first released in September by Phil Smith, Chief Operating Officer of Rocafella Leisure Group.

In a letter through ConnectedIn, he stated, “I am pleased to announce that we are launching the UK’s first Nerf Action Experience at the Trafford Center in early 2021. A big thank you to @hasbro and his dedicated team. “

A Barton Square spokesperson said, “We are in talks with a number of exciting brands looking to open in Barton Square following last year’s redesign.

“This is part of plans to build a vibrant retail and leisure destination that our visitors will enjoy.”

While the Manchester Adventure Center will be the first in the UK, the first in the world opened in Singapore in 2019.

The plans haven’t revealed exactly what is in store for the Manchester attraction, but if the Singapore version has anything to offer, we can expect multiple “zones” in an arena packed with a variety of challenges and games, which are divided into different areas and topics.

The Trafford Center Nerf Action Xperience will be one of the attractions in Barton Square along with Sealife Manchester and the Legoland Discovery Center.
