AS Monaco’s Sporting Director, Paul Mitchell, could be parting ways with the club after their Europa League exit against Braga on Thursday evening.
Lequipe have reported that Dmitry Rybolovlev, the club president, has decided to part ways with Mitchell, as well as Oleg Petrov and Philippe Clement. The timings of such departures have not yet been decided.
The 40-year-old Sporting Director is known to be one of the best in the business, and the reports from Lequipe come just weeks after he was in the stands at Old Trafford to watch Manchester United’s quarter-final FA Youth Cup tie against Leicester City alongside Ralf Rangnick.
Despite claims that he was seeing family, this news adds an interesting layer onto the story, especially when you consider his previous relations with Rangnick, who will be moving into a consultancy role at the club at the end of the season.
Mitchell previously worked as Head of Recruitment and Development at RB Leipzig from 2018 to 2020 while United’s interim boss was also at the club.
United have previously had reported interest in the Englishman who has had roles at Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League beforehand.
