Liverpool travel to Old Trafford for the second time this season on Sunday, where Manchester United are waiting for you.
The Reds’ hopes of making the Premier League top 4 are slowly fading, but a win today would keep them fighting.
Increasing the chances of Champions League football next season is the focus of the fans this weekend. To do this, Liverpool have to do something they have never done under Jürgen Klopp – win at Old Trafford.

This statistic alone is enough to indicate that it will not be an easy task. It’s a game that is complicated by United’s talent, hard to beat this season. Your four defeats are the lowest total in the top division.
So how can Liverpool take advantage of an empty Old Trafford and get a long-awaited win this weekend? There is one glaring weakness that can be exploited.
The absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip has admittedly made Liverpool significantly weaker in dead ball situations.
Klopp, however, could be much worse than targeting such attack sequences.
The set pieces for United and Liverpool are interestingly similar this season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team have scored seven goals in the Premier League, Klopps a total of six.
Defensively, only Leeds have conceded more goals than United (11) in the league this season. What’s more interesting is that seven of them made it to Old Trafford, a league high record for home teams.

In terms of Liverpool’s shooting stakes this season, the top four men – Trent Alexander-Arnold, 94, Andrew Robertson (88), Mohamed Salah (91) and Sadio Mane (102) – are all in the top five on this metric.
Alexander-Arnold got 24 in dead ball situations and Robertson got 15. The second highest sum after that is Jordan Henderson with just four.
Liverpool will try to make something out of the wide areas so it would be wise to shoot crosses early in the game to test United and Lindelof’s determination.
From there it can be decided how the hosts are to be used when assigning standard situations.
