Manchester United issue a statement on Covid passports for fans attending games at Old Trafford

Manchester United have confirmed that fans attending matches at Old Trafford will need to provide evidence of their Covid-19 status in order to enter the stadium.

Starting with the home game against Burnley on December 30th, all fans aged 18 and over must either provide proof of a double vaccination via the NHS Covid Pass, proof of a negative PCR or lateral flow test within 48 hours before kick-off, or a valid medical exemption.

Players and staff within the “Relevant Person” group are subject to the separate Premier League protocols and testing programs.

Face masks are mandatory in indoor spaces such as waiting halls and hospitality suites, except when eating or drinking. Fans are asked to wear face covers at the turnstiles.

United’s Chief Operating Officer, Collette Roche, said: “Manchester United continues to work with the Premier League to ensure the safety of fans throughout the season.

“We have been mandated by the government to implement these new rules and we urge all fans to prepare accordingly for the games they want to play.

“It is especially important that fans download their NHS COVID passport on their phones before they travel to Old Trafford and that they arrive at the stadium early to avoid delays at the turnstiles where we will be doing extensive spot checks. “

What game goers must do:

  1. Before arriving at Old Trafford for a game, all fans 18 and over should ensure that they have a valid NHS COVID passport or international equivalent. or proof of a valid negative test result; or valid proof of medical exemption, which can be presented upon request. Passports should be downloaded to the phone prior to arrival at Old Trafford.
  2. Fans will also need to self-declare that they have an approved form of COVID certification before visiting Old Trafford. This will be an online process. All ticket holders will receive self-declaration instructions by email.
  3. Fans are encouraged to read the detailed government guidelines and the Code of Conduct for Spectators, which applies to all games at Old Trafford and has been updated with the new measures, here.
