It has been over four months since Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian manager had survived a 5-0 defeat to Liverpool and a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, but it was the 4-1 loss to Watford that proved the final nail in the coffin.
The United board, who had delayed sacking Solskjaer over the international break, were quick to act after the disappointing result and after a few days, the manager was saying his goodbyes at Carrington. The manager even stopped to give an interview with MUTV thanking the fans and players.
He said: “I am a fan and I wish the players all the best. There are some very, very good players there, some good people. I’m sure we’ll see them puff their chest out and they’ll go on a run

“As I’ve said to them this morning as well, trust yourselves, you know we’re better than this. We’ve not been able to show it but go out, chest out, enjoy being a Man United player, in the Champions League, on the biggest stage. If and when you win the game, you’re through to the next round, Michael [Carrick] is going to be in charge. Michael, I have the utmost respect [for], I love Michael to bits. I’m becoming emotional now because he’s top. They’ll be fine. I’ll watch them and support them.”
The interview ended with Solskjaer being told he was always welcome at Old Trafford, but since he was removed from the dugout, he has not been seen at the ground. However, on Sunday the stars seemed to align.
Though he has not been seen at the men’s games, Solskjaer’s daughter, Karna, plays for the United women’s team and he has often been seen in the stands cheering her on. And yesterday the women’s team played their first game in front of fans at Old Trafford — and the Norwegian was in attendance to watch them win 3-1.

United superfan Alex Nield was able to grab a picture with the former United manager outside of the ground and posted it to his Instagram. It was then reposted all over social media and the replies under one post by United Journal were particularly heartwarming:
