A joint venture between Bruntwood Works and Trafford Council has selected the developer to advance the residential element of the £ 208 million Lumina Village.

The plan calls for the 12-acre former Kellogg’s headquarters to be remodeled to provide 750 apartments, up to 200,000 square feet of offices, an elementary school, and a 100-bedroom hotel, according to plans approved last year.

“In Glenbrook we have found a great partner who shares our vision for the future of this exciting new community, and we are delighted that they are driving their plans forward,” said Andrea George, Regional Director for Town Centers and Consumer Brands at Bruntwood Works.

“Lumina Village will be a lively new neighborhood centered around the people who live there in high-quality new apartments.”

Up to 30% of the living space is shown as affordable.

Lumina Village was originally designed by Manchester-based architect Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, but it is believed the company is no longer involved in the project.

According to the joint venture between Trafford and Bruntwood Works, the development will boost the local economy by £ 50 million a year.

The former Kellogg headquarters, which closed in 2018 after the company moved to MediaCityUK, is across from the Old Trafford Cricket Ground. Lumina Village is part of Trafford Council’s broader Civic Quarter master plan, which includes another joint venture project – the redevelopment of Stretford Mall.

Nearby, plans for a similar project to the former Kellogg site were announced last month.

Trafford Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority will set up a joint venture with a developer to build more than 750 apartments, a hotel, offices and a food hall as part of the redevelopment of the former GMP headquarters on Chester Road.
