HOUSEHOLDS across Trafford are asked to take part in the 2021 census.

Census day is March 21, but households are now receiving letters with online codes explaining how to fill out their forms. If you don’t receive one in the next few weeks, contact the Census Contact Center.

People can also request a paper questionnaire if they want to complete their census that way.

Local census support centers will be open and staff will provide assistance to those who are unsafe online, do not have a computer, or need help filling out on paper.

The census is a survey that provides the most accurate estimate of all people and households in England and Wales. It has been carried out every ten years since 1801, with the exception of 1941.

Cllr Mike Freeman, Executive Member of Trafford Council for the Restoration and Reform of Covid-19, said: “I would like to urge everyone to take the census. This is vital. Population statistics are of vital importance for our country at national, local and municipal level. Once every 10 years, the census provides an opportunity to create a detailed and comprehensive picture of the nation.

“The country has the ability to provide information that can help its communities be well served. For local authorities, census estimates support both the planning and the delivery of public services. ”
