A total of £100,000 has been made available to support groups working with young people and children across Trafford.

Organizations can apply to housing company Trafford Housing Trust for part of the money to help youngsters feel more comfortable in school.

This could be done by providing basic school clothing, equipment, supplies and holiday meals and support with activities for children and families.

Eligible groups can apply for up to £25,000 from the Children Support Grant Fund, but THT has indicated that most grants are not expected to exceed between £10,000 and £15,000.

The new grant is intended to replace THT’s Active Appetites programme, which has awarded grants totaling over £220,000 to local community groups for nearly 50 different projects since its launch.

Applications for the Children Support Grant opened yesterday (January 10) and are open until February 21.

Zoe Taylor, Support Manager at Trafford Housing Trust said: “We encourage schools and groups to set up support for school supplies such as .

“We would also like local organizations and schools to provide free or subsidized access to school-related equipment and materials, while also providing essential groceries during one or more of the 2022 holidays from Easter to Christmas.”
