TRAFFORD Council urges residents to stop the spread of Covid-19 by accepting a vaccine offer.

Covid-19 rates continue to rise in north-west England, with Trafford and the entire Greater Manchester area being subject to additional measures due to the high rates of the Delta variant.

The Trafford case rate for the week ending June 12 was nearly 200 per 100,000 population.

In response, Trafford Council encourages residents to do their part by getting vaccinated.

From Friday anyone in England over the age of 18 can book an appointment.

Eleanor Roaf, Director of Public Health at Trafford Council, said: “Unfortunately we are now seeing an increase in hospital admissions from Covid-19.

“It is important that people say yes to their vaccine for their own health and that of their friends and family.

“Vaccination will help us end this pandemic.”

The Trafford Council community engagement team is also working to increase the uptake of the vaccine across the county.

They send 50 volunteers to vaccination clinics every week and help the county’s homeless people to help them get vaccinated.

And in response to lower uptake in north Trafford, the team is working to increase residents’ confidence in the vaccine.

This work involves talking to residents about the vaccine in their own language.

Councilor Mike Freeman, Executive Member for the Recovery and Reform of Covid-19, said, “I am so proud of the incredible work that is being done to engage our communities.

“That makes a real difference, gives our residents a hearing and shapes our future work.

“We know that our residents have already done so much, but we all have to do a little more to get this variant under control.”
