Here is your Manchester United evening recap on Wednesday September 8th.

Fred banned for two games

Manchester United’s decision to prevent Fred from representing Brazil during the international break will have ramifications as the midfielder is expected to be suspended for two games.

The Brazilian Football Association has triggered a FIFA rule to impose a “five-day ban” on Premier League teams, which means that United will play against Newcastle on Saturday and days later in the Champions League opener against Young Boys have to do without Fred.

The Red Devils prevented the 28-year-old from bonding with his national team as it meant a trip to a red list country and the subsequent 10-day isolation period that Fred would have had on his return.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are fortunate to have just one player missing, while rivals Manchester City may do without two starters and Liverpool are expected to have three banned players this weekend.

United enters Declan Rice

Many believe that Manchester United will enter the market next year to bolster the position as they have chosen not to sign a central midfielder this summer.

With Paul Pogba potentially going on a free transfer and Nemanja Matic unlikely to be held back, the need to get at least one replacement is great.

Declan’s impressive 2020 Rice European Championship and strong start to the season have once again linked him to a move to Old Trafford.

The Manchester Evening News assumes that a possible deal for the West Ham star has already been discussed between the figureheads at United.

Rice has a two-year contract next summer.

Old Trafford makeover for Cristiano Ronaldo’s return

Manchester United are just days away from playing Newcastle United at Old Trafford and the stadium has seen a minor change.

In Saturday’s game, Cristiano Ronaldo could make his second debut for the club and eagle-eyed fans will notice his image in the megastore.

International teammate Bruno Fernandes has been downsized to accommodate the new signing and fans hope this won’t be the only time they see Ronaldo on Saturday.
