Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville is confident that Old Trafford can welcome a full capacity of fans into the Premier League opener against Leeds United.
The fixtures for the 2021/22 Premier League season were announced on Tuesday and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have received a delicious draw for the opening weekend.
United greet their historic Pennines rivals for the opening weekend at Old Trafford, with the game tentatively scheduled for August 14th but subject to change with an inevitable selection for TV coverage.
After some fans returned to the last home game last season, there is hope that the restrictions will be completely lifted by the start of the new season.

While the UK government announced this week a four-week delay in lifting all restrictions, the signs promise that July 19th, dubbed “Freedom Day” will be an end to the terrible 18 months.
With pilot events going on throughout the summer, including the European Championship, Neville is confident that fans at home and away can get back to the start of the season.
“I just hope that instead of focusing on booing English players, Priti Patel and her ministers actually leave the fans back in the stadium for this game so we can actually create the right atmosphere,” he told Sky Sports.
