Bruno Fernandes has praised Manchester United academy star Anthony Elanga and believes the striker “has a future” at Old Trafford.

The 19-year-old has been in great shape for the United Under23s this season with 11 goals in 20 games.

Elanga is still about to make his senior national team debut, but is training with the first team this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has added Elanga to United’s squad for the second leg of the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday evening.

And before the tie, Fernandes says he was impressed with Elanga’s performance in training.

“He impresses everyone because he’s a really nice kid,” said Bruno on United’s official website.

“Quiet, work hard. He’s really good on the ball and plays with both feet. So he has a future.

“If he focuses his head on what he has to do and what he can achieve, I think he has a future with us.”

Fernandes, meanwhile, has also turned down the prospect of overtaking Erling Haaland, who has scored the most goals in any European competition this season.

The Portuguese international has scored 10 goals in Europe this season – one behind the Borussia Dortmund striker.

‘For me to help Rashy [Marcus Rashford] Overtaking him is more important to me, ”said Fernandes.

“I am there to serve my strikers. It doesn’t matter if I passed [him] or rashy passes [him]. I’ll be happy anyway because I give him a lot of assists. ‘
