Fans across the country near a return to normal as Old Trafford prepares to reopen its doors to the public on Tuesday night (6pm).

Manchester United have secured Champions League football ahead of next season and can consolidate second place in the table with their victory over Fulham, who has already been relegated to the championship.

According to the latest government restrictions, up to 10,000 people can access the game.

It’s still a long way from the unparalleled atmosphere of a packed Old Trafford, but now that United fans are forced to watch from the comfort of their homes this season, it’s a kick-off to their final home game of the season To return in the right direction in 2020/2021.

What is expected of fans?

In order to keep the support of the supporters as safe as possible, United will provide facilities to maintain Covid-19 hygiene. The club will also use all data responsibly to simplify NHS testing and trace procedures and to ensure clear communication of decisions and processes. Meanwhile, fans who have been allocated tickets are asked to do the following:

  • Plan ahead and get to the stadium within the allotted time frame
  • Wear face covering except when eating or drinking (government exemptions apply).
  • Disinfect your hands regularly
  • Stick to social distancing rules
  • Be responsible and respect other fans and MUFC employees

Trips to Old Trafford

Regardless of which mode of transport you plan to use, fans should allow enough time to ensure they arrive within the timeframe allotted to them.

Fasn are requested to arrive by car if possible. If you arrive by car, there is sufficient parking space available on site, which can be booked in advance depending on availability (manutd.com/tickets).

According to government guidelines, backers must avoid car sharing with anyone outside their household or the support bubble. Due to possible road closures – and ongoing road construction projects in the area – fans are advised to keep an eye on the closures and road works to ensure a smooth journey.

Ladywell, Sale Water Park, East Didsbury and Parkway Metrolink stops all have Park and Ride locations where you can park your car and end your trip to Old Trafford by tram.

If you want to travel by public transport, the services may be limited. Fans can use the Wharfside Tram Stop on Trafford Wharf Road to return to the city center. However, this stop may be busy. So use the Old Trafford, Trafford Bar, Exchange Quay and Salford Quays tram stops, which are also a short walk from the stadium. Please stay in your social bubble one more time.

Current information on timetables and guidelines for trams, buses and trains can be found at tfgm.com.

Arrival at Old Trafford

Once the tickets have been assigned, supporters will be assigned an arrival window in advance to minimize the queuing. Since this may be earlier than when you are used to getting to a game, you may need to change your travel plans.

Fans must arrive via Wharfside Way in Old Trafford on the north side. A secure boundary fence was installed on the east forecourt. As a result, supporters approaching from Chester Road must walk north across the canal and enter via Wharfside Way. Before you get access to the stadium, consider the following.

  • It must be the named ticket holder who takes part in the game
  • Fans aged 16 and over must be able to present ID
  • All supporters are encouraged to download the NHS Covid-19 app and check into Old Trafford
  • Please do not bring any bags or restricted items with you into the stadium (see manutd.com/safety).
  • Elevators should only be used by those who need them
  • If you have specific accessibility requirements, contact MUFC on 0161 676 7770
