Manchester United Women will play at Old Trafford for the first time, the club have announced.

The Women’s Super League game against West Ham United on March 27th will be played at the iconic Stadium, held at Leigh Sports Village.

And head coach Casey Stone described the move as “a special moment” and “a fantastic opportunity” to show the best of the WSL.

“Playing at Old Trafford will obviously be a special moment in the history of this team and it is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the women’s game which has seen tremendous growth over the past few years,” said the England international. “Of course we will miss our fans.

“They are such an important part of this club and we could feel their great support from afar throughout the season.

“We are all keen to get them back in the stands as soon as possible and we hope there are many more opportunities to play at Old Trafford in the future.”

While Chief Operating Officer Collette Roche revealed how the international men’s game break offered a unique opportunity to bring Stoney and her team to the theater of dreams.

“We are very excited to host our women’s team at Old Trafford,” said Roche. “This month’s international break created a void in this season’s relentless program at the stadium and we all agreed that this was the right time to welcome Casey and her squad to Old Trafford.
