Trafford is about to have a big year for new and exciting developments.

With major projects – including soon-to-be-sought tourist destinations and huge housing developments – the district will see big changes in 2021.

Here you will find a summary of all important developments:

Manchester thermal baths

The wellness resort run by Therme Manchester and Peel L & P, which was unanimously approved by the Trafford Council planning committee back in March, is expected to cost at least £ 250 million.

The spa will replace the current EventCity event building in Trafford Park.

The three-story center on Barton Dock Road will include a large family zone with water slides, a wave pool, indoor and outdoor pools, steam rooms, relaxation areas for exotic palm trees, luxurious spa experiences and a two-acre garden to relax in.

In a dedicated area for adults, there are hot water lagoons between spectacular botanical gardens, swim-up bars, therapeutic mineral baths, and beautifully designed steam rooms and saunas.

Modern surf manchester

With a surf lagoon operated by Wavegarden, the company behind the popular Surf Snowdonia venue in North Wales, this venue has outdoor surfing opportunities for everyone.

The surf park is located near the Trafford Center and costs around £ 60 million.

The venue will be the region’s first surfing lagoon and can generate reliable waves up to eight feet high. It is aimed at beginners, amateurs and professionals alike.

The early drafts for the Manchester project also included interactive attractions such as a pump track and fitness zone, a halfpipe and boarding area, and practice areas such as bouldering and balancing zones.

The TraffordCity site on Barton Dock Road will also have bar and restaurant facilities.

Belfast-based real estate developer McKinney Group has given Trafford Council an initial look at the plans.

General Manager Billy McKinney said, “This is a really exciting project to be brought to Greater Manchester.

“Our plans will deliver perfect, consistent waves to TraffordCity, building on the region’s superb and world-class sports facilities.

“In addition to the clear financial benefits offered by the proposals, Modern Surf Manchester will also offer significant local health and wellness benefits.”

Victoria Warehouse

The venue and conference rooms on Wharf Road in Stretford, home to world-famous dance music brand Warehouse Project, consist of three early 20th century warehouses with a detached six-story building that currently houses a hotel to the east.

There will even be a running track on one of the roofs

The focus of the plans is the construction of a new seven-story parking lot, the modification of the existing warehouse for event locations and the reconfiguration of the existing hotel on site, of which only 40 rooms are currently used.

There will even be a rooftop running track and the hotel will have 200 luxury rooms.

A new elevator will be added and floors above the venue will be converted into offices

The space above the venue will be converted into office space, with an elevator installed on the side of the building for access.

A new roof terrace and an event room suitable for weddings will be installed in the eastern warehouse, which currently houses conference and exhibition rooms.

Former Kellogg factory site

As early as September, the council approved plans for 750 apartments, a hotel with 100 rooms, a leisure center, a primary school and offices.

The former Kellogg factory site in Old Trafford was bought in 2017 by the local council in collaboration with developers Bruntwood Works for £ 12 million.

Now the area is to be developed as part of the council’s Civic Quarter master plan for the redevelopment of Stretford and Old Trafford.

The plans are also expected to create around 2,000 jobs during the construction phase.

It will completely change the area and create a fantastic place for people to live and work there. “
